Thermal Oil Heater

We have onboard the Thermal Oil heaters or Thermal Oil boilers as commonly used term for this system. This heating system heats up our cargo “Bitumen” up to 200 degrees Celcius to maintain the viscosity and can be pumpable for transport and storage.

The thermal oil boiler is one of the essential system of the vessel to keep our cargo within specifications and to supply the vessel with all the heating demands it needs.

A thermal oil boiler fires through a helical coil and generates energy from the hot products of combustion by heating the coil through radiation or convection.

The coil heats the thermal oil of fluid that is being circulated in the system by the circulation pump and expansion tank. The maximum working temperature for our model type is up to 300 degrees Celcius.

Unlike a water or steam boiler, this heating process does not heavily pressurize the system. This heating system is much cheaper to operate and maintain than water boilers.

On my personal opinion and experience the thermal oil boiler is much easier to operate and maintain.
